Food additives play an important role in beverage production, improving the sensory quality of beverages, extending shelf life, and adapting to the needs of mechanized and automated food production. Common food additives include Preservatives, Antioxidants, Sweeteners,  Acidity regulators, and Thickeners.

Preservatives are widely used in beverage production, mainly to prevent spoilage and stale taste. Common Preservatives are Benzoic Acid, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Lactate and so on. Antioxidants are used to prevent drinks from chemically reacting with oxygen during processing, storage and transportation, leading to a decline in quality. A common antioxidant is Ascorbic Acid, which can effectively improve the stability of the beverage.
